K Young

K Young is a London-based artist and graduate of Central Saint Martins. They have exhibited internationally and contributed to numerous publications, including Aesthetica Magazine, Self Service, Gestalten, Another Man, Pan and the Dream, The Fashionable Lampoon and Harpers Bazaar.

K Young has always been drawn to reimagining everyday objects, transforming them into something entirely new. This, combined with a deep passion for photography, has shaped the artist’s creative process. K Young creates hand-cut paper collages from found photographic material. By editing, reframing, splicing, layering, and juxtaposing images, the artist reconfigures them until a new narrative takes shape.

Much of K Young’s work comes from subconscious thoughts. The artist is particularly interested in how space evolves over time—the idea that all physical space is eventually reshaped and that everything exists within a limited period. This concept often plays a role in the work, though K Young typically notices it only after the fact.

Collage serves as a way to depict fragmented glimpses of other dimensions, while photography traditionally captures a moment, offering a specific ‘truth.’ But through ‘re-photography,’ the image is freed from this fixed moment. By combining images from different periods, K Young creates a new, layered perspective.

K Young’s work explores spatial representation, form and the notion of the ‘fixed moment’ in photography. This dual approach—collage and photography—has become the foundation for exploring deeper themes, such as social constructs, gender roles, and identity.
